I go to the iTunes Store, bring up an artist, select an album, hover over the track number and it turns to a Play icon ... but when I click on it, I get the Drop Down Window offering 3 months free music. I click Not Now and it returns to the previous window and nothing plays.
I'm running Catalina 10.15.6

When you click your cursor in the search bar, look at the upper right, and make sure you are looking in the iTunes Store, not in Apple Music.
