Are external Webcams truly supported by iPad Pro?

There was a post from June saying the iPad Pro does not support the use of external webcams, but the Specs page for the iPad Pro clearly state that "The USB‑C port lets you connect all types of accessories, like a camera, external drive, or display. Wi‑Fi and LTE are faster than ever, so you can stay connected everywhere." Is this true and are there specific models or brands that are recommended as fully compatible? Thank you!

OK, that makes sense but should be made clearer on the device's specs page. Is there anything on the roadmap for iOS/iPadOS to accommodate external cameras? The camera's placement above the screen is super inconvenient for video conferencing. Thanks!

The iPad Pro Magic Keyboard is effectively raised dock with a keyboard and trackpad, and that positioning places the camera to the left of the display. There are other stands and other cases available that can be used to prop up the iPad, as well.

At present, iOS/iPadOS doesn’t support the use of an external webcam.

ok, then why does the product's page say that the device supports plugging in cameras? When will iOS/iPadOS be updated to support the use of external webcams?

You can connect cameras - so as to transfer images directly from the camera card to the iPad. This is not the same as connecting a webcam to your iPad.

Nobody, other than Apple, have any idea about what may (or may not) be in any future product roadmap. Apple never pre-announce products or features.
