MacOS Mojave update 10.14.6 freeze issues. Help! How do I revert or undo?
iMac 27″, macOS 10.14
No way to go back to 10.14.5 without a backup of it, but...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup).
I tried to install the combo update but got an error message that the update could not write to the disk. I think because the update had already been installed once and it would not write a duplicate?
Mac is still very slow and prone to freezing and had no issues before installing the 10.14.6 update as prompted.
Is there a way to remove 10.14.6 and go back to 10.14.5 without an AirPort backup?
If they pulled they must've gotten the message, I'd expect an updated one.

Nothing works to fix mac OS 10.14.6. I see that Apple has pulled the update. Are they likely to issue a fix that can be downloaded and installed?
Updates should create an APFS snapshot. You can try to roll back to the one before you updated.
I haven't ever attempted this, so can't provide any advice about it.
