macOS Catalina 10.15.7
I have read every post on this, restarted in Safe mode, tried to "reinstall" and it says I don't have enough storage despite having 178.25 GB.
What else is there?
After doing as others have suggested - try downloading via Safari the Full Combo Update and try via Safe Mode

maybe resetting the pram might help
restart, then press (cmd-shift-p-r) before apple logo, after the chime!
What OS version are you running now?
And you have 178 GB available on your device itself (not in icloud)?
There is no chime on newer models/OS versions.
Catalina 10.15.7 will not update. Plenty of storage. 2019 Macbook Air.
