iphone XR screen often becomes unresponsive. It's impossible to force restart because you have to slide the screen button to shut down. How to avoid or resolve this problem?

Note that a Force ReStart does NOT involve sliding that button to turn off the iPhone A Force ReStart actually tells you to ignore that slide button OFF request and continue holding the Side Button.
Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:
