iPhone 12 yellow screen

i got my 12 pro yesterday, beautiful machine, but i started to notice some lack of color intensity, i've using an Iphone X for 3 years know, so something was off. I put the two side by side, displaying the same foto, exactly same settings, and it's sad, something is wrong with the 12 pro, the colors are sad and dead and "yellowish".

Any ideas ?

Hello Antonio! I found a solution that works for me and would work for you as well! My new iPhone 12 also had the yellow tint to it so I exchanged it at my local apple store and although the new one was better, it still had the tint to it. My solution is to actually change the color tint of the display by going into your settings < accessibility < display & text size < color filters < turn on and select color tint. You can scroll down and adjust the intensity and the hue. I have my intensity slider all the way to the left and my hue is about 80% to the right which adjust the tint to a more natural color. It has satisfied me and I hope it works well for you!

Tried already to play with hue filters, but there is no real white! (it look likes an old cathode ray tube television)

Unfortunately, the phone updated soon to 14.2 IOS before I could move data from my Iphone 7, that's why I cannot check IOS14.1 had the same issue.

In my pictures, you can see that the Iphone 12 PRO has some strange dots, maybe it's some kind of OLED adjustment when it becomes so dark, and this is causing some issues with the display.... but anyway with the max brightness there is some yellowish color instead of pure white .

I went through this as well & it still has not changed the dullness I am seeing. Everyone who has asked to see my phone is backing off now because of it's screens lack of WOW!

I got my iPhone Pro & the colors/background was very dull (even the white from the internet pages)

My iPhone XR is extremely more bright & vibrant than my iPhone 12 Pro.

I contacted the support team & they saw the same thing on my shared screen & went over some trouble shooting with me which were the same things I did & it did not change. She suggested taking it back to Apple for an exchange & that one is dull as well.

I changed my mind .... and keep the 12 pro Max

I packed it back for return Tuesday and as UPS didn’t pick it up I decided to have a second unboxing this WE and if I still see a difference on the whites with my iPhone X. I can leave with it and like that phone more than my X .... so I will wait a few weeks until they have new batches of phones in Apple stores and passed a couple of IOS updates.

if I notice à difference then I will request replacement with my Apple care +

No, that's total bs.

Apple have built their reputation on having things that "just work". Colours are always right on their devices out of the box, you're not having to go in and fiddle with every setting to get it to look passable.

I love the iPhone 12 Pro Max - it has many great qualities. But yes - a fix hasn't come yet. I'm probably going to send it back while I'm still in the return period and use my old iPhone X. If they fix the problem in the new year I'll probably purchase the device again.

You just fixed boosting "brightness", in the most inefficient way possible. Accessibility / Display & Text Size / Auto-Brigthness = OFF and Display & Brightness / True Tone = OFF gives you full manual control to set your own brightness anyway. That has NOTHING to do with the color display of the screen.

If you have another iPhone, using exact same settings, difference is clearly visible, on solid white image or any photograph really.

My sentiments exactly.

That was the entire point I have been trying to make the whole time.

If I alter any of the settings in any way it only makes the screen coloring worse.

below is the comparison of my iPod next to my iPhone 12Pro.

My XR was extremely brighter & more vibrant.

I also make sure that both did not have any setting altered.

I think Apple is preparing a bigger software update as there seems to be other issues with iOS 14 too. Battery drain etc.

I don't see why my iPhone 12 mini couldn't be fixed with a software update as I can pretty much fix it by fiddling with the settings myself. But if the defected screens cannot be identified or each of them would require a different calibration, then a software fix is not possible.

I would say it has to do with a layer of light that is always on but can only be seen on a black background.

That is to say, I would say that the problem of colors being bad is related to the greenish-gray layer that is seen when an image is blacked and the oled screen does not turn off completely.

As this greenish gray layer is always on, I would say that it is the one that creates the greenness of the screen and the yellowish tones on certain occasions.

Removing this gray-green layer that is always on, I would say all problems are solved.

I hope I was able to help with this information :)

I don’t know why an apple moderator is deleting me comments about how @mizz-305 is either a bot or someone paid by apple to gaslight us into thinking there is no problem. I am a content creator and it’s IMPOSSIBLE to use Lightroom, photoshop etc on my 12 pro max because the final product is horrible when looked at on a properly calibrated screen like my iPhone X or MacBook Pro 2018. Human Skin tones are the most affected by this because white, yellow , brown , black are all on the yellow color spectrum. The fact that my comments are getting deleted tells me apple is aware of the problem but do not have the balls to admit it. SHAME ON YOU APPLE , SHAME ON YOU! Keep deleting my and our truth but I’ll keep posting!
