iPhone 12 yellow screen

i got my 12 pro yesterday, beautiful machine, but i started to notice some lack of color intensity, i've using an Iphone X for 3 years know, so something was off. I put the two side by side, displaying the same foto, exactly same settings, and it's sad, something is wrong with the 12 pro, the colors are sad and dead and "yellowish".

Any ideas ?

Hello Antonio! I found a solution that works for me and would work for you as well! My new iPhone 12 also had the yellow tint to it so I exchanged it at my local apple store and although the new one was better, it still had the tint to it. My solution is to actually change the color tint of the display by going into your settings < accessibility < display & text size < color filters < turn on and select color tint. You can scroll down and adjust the intensity and the hue. I have my intensity slider all the way to the left and my hue is about 80% to the right which adjust the tint to a more natural color. It has satisfied me and I hope it works well for you!

nobody can answer for sure if its a defection or just a matter of calibration which is not an option in users hand to do. just to adjust color tint or hue or whatever. Even the apple support has now , at this time , almost zero experience in that specific issue of 12 pro , and if all the production is like that , there is no comparison between a defected screen and normal one ( if thats a hardware issue)

the point is that most people will not understand if the screen is bad or not even if it is compared right next to another (non 12 pro) screen , so no harm ,.

Maybe this is not a hardware issue at all , it could be a a way of reducing power consumption so , as the first tests and reviews run and have an impact on sales , to rate it better , and then after some months to adjust the dipslay's color profiles and etc through software update. We will see....

I couldn't stand it so .. i just returned it back ... and i will wait for the 12 pro max or mini

The only change that affects the iPhone 12 & 12 pro display color is to enable color filter and then choose color tint (under setting->Accessibility->Display and Text Size->Color filter) set the hue to somewhere 70%-80%. However, that will give the display a little blue white (not true white), which I don't think improve much in term of color display accuracy. I have just stopped by at Apple store today for this screen issue. The tech there run some diagnotic test, and the the screen is defected, and I was offer a replacement. However, I looked at all the iPhone 12 model in store. They all have the same warm yellow tone. I guess the warm yellow tone on all iPhone 12 model is here to stay. If you don't like the warm yellow tone or the blue white after turn on the coloring filter, I guess the only option is to return it.

I think Apple probably have serious issue with iPhone 12 production. I believe all the iPhone 12 with yellow tone display may have defect oled panel; I visited Costco store today, and they have iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 pro max, and iPhone 12 on display. All have yellow tone except one iPhone 12, which has the correct color display. As shown in the picture here, on the left is last year iPhone 11 Pro max; in the middle is the new iPhone 12 (with correct color display - color filter is turn off); on the right is iPhone 12 mini with yellow tone display. The iPhone 12 in the middle has highest brightness (I set brightness on all the phones to max); in the picture iPhone 12's font/letter look washed-out because of the way I took the picture. In make eyes, the color on the iPhone 12 looks pretty good.

My iPhone 12 pro had a yellow display, and I took it to Apple store on Sunday; Apple Genius Bar ran a test on it and told me that the display was defected. I decided to return the phone instead of exchange for the new one. I will wait until Apple fix the issue before I buy the iPhone 12 again.

Hello, I am having the same issue. I bought an iphone 12 pro max on launch day. I noticed a yellow tint and dull screen next to my XS MAX. I returned the phone and got a new one.

The new phone was absolutely fine on IOS 14.1 and as soon i updated the software to IOS 14.2 the yellow tint came back!!

Can others who are having the yellow tint on iphone 12 pro max confirm if they are running 14.2??

Could this problem be a 14.2 software related issue and maybe solved with 14.3 software??

Any thoughts/suggestions??

Thanks

I can not really figure out why the second 12 pro max I swapped was crystal clear like it is supposed to be initially when I got it - the only difference I can think is that it was on 14.1 then but as soon i updated to 14.2 it turned yellow again!!

Can someone suggest why??

I have tried to erase the phone thrice not helping now! Making me go crazy with the yellow screen. Hope 14.3 fixes the issue, otherwise will have to return the phone!!

I actually tried to erase all content and settings and set up the phone again. It feels much better and white now. Previously when I was taking a screen shot the flash was yellow, now the flash is white and all the whites feel a lot better now.

Did anyone try to erase the phone and set up again and maybe it will solve your issue also??

Ok guys so after researching and stressing out about my yellow screen for 3 days I have finally fixed it.

Of course first of all turn True Tone off.

I also changed the hue to get rid of the yellow but thought in the back of my mind “this acceptable for a brand new phone”.

After research I’ve found out that OLEDs glue can cause this colour when they come straight from the factory.

Turn off whatever colour filter you have used. Turn auto brightness on. Turn your brightness to the max and then hold your phones display up a light bulb for 15 minutes. Wow!

Good as new :)

of course if you would prefer to return then do so but I didn’t want to wait 2 weeks
