Macintosh HD - Data Taking 90% of 1TB Drive!

Macintosh HD - Data is Taking Up nearly 90% of my 1TB Drive!

Can someone help me resolve the issue please?..

I have seen this before in another person’s laptop and I remember feeling bad for them thinking it wouldn’t happen to me.

And now, here we are. :(

I know there are plenty of forums out there regarding the same or similar issue but I recently updated to Big Sur and want to make sure the protocol is the same or if Sudo and other commands have been changed like apple has done in the past before...

Thank you for any help!

If it's the Data volume, you should be able to find the problem by sorting the folder/files in size order in Finder. In Finder View Options, choose to "Calculate all Sizes". Then just click on the top of the Size column. Once you have isolated the offending item, it may be possible to make a decision as to it's usefulness.

So I found out it was because Both my brother and I have separate accounts, however on his.... He had it synced to his Dropbox Syncing everything he uploads from his other desktop computer.

So basically it was being used up by the folders I then switched over, to only sync online and not locally to the laptop.. Thanks bro for replying.
