Big Sur changed Mail and now you can't move the mailboxes or folders.

You can no longer move the mailboxes or the folders. You can't organized Mail. Why? Can you fix this? What's the trick to getting Mail to organize the way you need ?

Hello mario49,

Thank you for the link, but it appears that this issue is a bug.

I am used to reorganizing my mailboxes with simple drag and drop, but since Big Sure, I am not able to move a mailbox within another mailbox.

I had no problem doing so in the past with previous Mac OS versions, and I can still do it easily from iCloud.

Regards,

Hello CARichmond,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand you'd like to move mailboxes or folders in the sidebar of the Mail app. We'll be happy to help.

You can move or copy mailboxes in the Mail app of macOS Big Sur. Here's an article with more information: Move or copy mailboxes in Mail on Mac

There's additional details of how to customize the Mail app in macOS Bug Sur: Mail User Guide

Kind regards.

So, when I click on the iCloud folder, the one with the cute cloud logo, I can't move any of those mailboxes. But when I go into the plain iCloud folder I can. So why have the 2?

The new changes you guys call "improvements" are not. The mail is confusing. And the upgrade on my iPhone11 has really messed things up. It will switch to silent mode on its own. The toggle switch is up and it's silent so I miss important calls from my doctors ( I'm dealing with colon cancer) and work ( hoping to get work and if I don't answer the call I don't get the job).

Any chance Apple might actually care enough to fix it? And going to the Apple store where they can't fit anything there and have to send it away so you are without a phone for 1-2 weeks, isn't a good option. How can anyone, anyone, go without a phone for 2 weeks in todays world? Has Apple made the only option is to buy a new phone? Apple's standards and quality has crashed.

I have the same question. I can't get folders to move in Mail after moving Big Sur. It used to be that I could move them to a top level inbox, but now I can't even move them into other folders or subfolders. My only solution to this is to open Outlook, move the folders there, close Outlook, and then use Mail. The folders will then update into the right locations. But I can't move them using Mail itself.

This seems like a basic function that Mail should support.

Big Sur changed Mail and now you can't move the mailboxes or folders.
