I'm on a MacBookPro 2018 model with 16 GB of memory.

Supposedly this is compatible according to Adobe and this model supports "Metal".

What is my problem?

According to Adobe's site, the 2020 suite requires Mojave as the minimum OS for the Mac.

They don't list things by suite, so I clicked on Photoshop's requirements. This is what it showed for the 2020 version.
