In Magnifier, if you take a picture, how do you get out of that picture and back to magnifier? There is no "x" or "done" or any other cue to exiting the photo. If you swipe up, it takes you back to Control Center. So how do you get the Magnifier back after taking a picture? (I've searched the Apple website and couldn't find any info even on how to use Magnifier.)

Couldn't get out of the capture that way because there was no X nor any resizing slider. Figured out how to get there, though, thanks to your reply.
There was nothing on the screen except the image but I gently touched the image near the bottom (not at the exact bottom) and that brought up the resizing bar which also included a small arrow which allowed me to swipe and get all the options back. 'then could close the image and go back to Magnifier. Problem solved.

Using iOS 14?
When in magnifier.. you click a 'shutter' button of sorts on the bottom center of the screen. looks like a circle inside another circle.
When you do this, it freezes the screen and you can zoom in on it etc.
To get out of the capture, you'll see that the shutter button has now turned into an X inside a circle. Tap that and it should switch back to a live image
