"Add Link" not working in Mail

I'm running a MacBook Pro, MacOs Catalina 10.15.7. I regularly add links when composing emails, but for some reason it's now decided t not to let me any more. My version of Mail is 13.4. When I've copied a link and I want to insert it into a message, I do the usual, which is highlight the text in the message that I want to become the link, then go Edit/Add Link as usual. The box comes up, I paste the link, but the "OK" button is greyed out (see screenshot below). Why is this happening now? I closed and reopened Mail, then rebooted the Mac, but no joy. Help!!!

Did you try knocking off the server side anchor—

simply:

https://www.howtogeek.com/205108/your-mac’s-firewall-is-off-by-default-do-you-need-to-enable-it/

I will add— in mail typically just posting the link is all that is needed, even if it is not showing as hot, once it is sent the recipient will see it as a hot link.

I have never need to use this feature in Mail— unless you are trying to hide the URL, for example: click HERE

What you are showing in the text box does not appear to be a valid URL.

for example: https://discussions.apple.com/content/attachment/1516f9cb-3d0c-4517-865e-e77c16c58d78

should start with http or https ?

Now, if I knew what a "server side anchor" was, I may be able to answer that! 🥴

Incidentally, I just tried a test message to myself, and simply pasted a Facebook URL, and the OK button worked! Has it something to do with Mail not liking too long a URL in that "Add Link" box maybe?

?

I posted the example— you will have to compare side by side if you can't figure it out...

the anchor begins #
