MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) Backlight Issue

Good day,

I found that my MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) had the following issue: The display backlight intermittently showed vertical bright areas along the entire bottom of the screen.

This would only be temporary and would then disappear, so I ignored it as it didn't happen often. I am now in the situation where the backlight has completely stopped working. I know the display is still working because if I shine a LED light on the screen, I can see the images etc.

I found that there was a Backlight Service Program listed here: https://support.apple.com/13-inch-macbook-pro-display-backlight-service

However this model, MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports), in particular; isn't listed as part of this repair program. I was wondering if this can be queried because the "symptoms" are exactly the same as listed in the URL above. Perhaps others here have had this issue as well?

Thanks.

Service Program—

https://www.apple.com/support/13-inch-macbook-pro-display-backlight-service/

All you can do is take it in and have it repaired.

At this time, there is no Service Program for this 15" issue of the projector cable, or the 2017 MBP or the 2018 MBP

Typically in the past if Apple does release a Service Program, they have offered a refund for out of pocket expense parts & labor for the exact issue covered.

Service Programs are triggered by the percentage of all MBP of this spec vs the number of failures documented.

We are not privy to this %, or have any more insight.

A repair at your local AppleStore or AASP will generate a "service record" for the repair on your machine—and this is all you will need to qualify—if a Service Program is issued.

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment
