When I connect iTunes it does not recognize iPod

hv to Mac Pro OS Big Sur 11. Want to sync old iPod (serial #5U****3RO). when I connect ITUNES does not recognize iPod.

Big Sur does not even have iTunes!

When you connect an iPod to Mac with Big Sur, the iPod will show up in Finder. Then you can sync it.
