M1 mac google contacts not syncing

I have added my google account and enabled contacts in system settings. When I go to the contacts app, I can see the google account and it is enabled but there is no option to fetch the contacts. Under general for the default account there is no option for the gmail account. Does anyone else have this issue and are they able to fix it?

Hello cestevens1987,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. We are more than happy to lend a hand today with the Contacts app.

You should be able to sync your Gmail contacts. Are you following the steps found in “Add contacts from iCloud, Google, and more to Contacts on Mac” found in the Contacts User Guide? If not, give those steps a try.

If they still are not syncing, see If your iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders won’t sync.

Reach back out if you are still having trouble getting the contacts to sync.

Take care!
