Headphone Safety Restriction Will NOT Turn Off

Hello,

I live in the US and use an iPhone Xs Max running IOS 14.4 that was made in the US. The problem is that my Headphone Safety feature will not stop sending notifications which automatically turn the volume down when it has been playing "too loud" over the course of 7 days.

No matter which solution from Apple Support I try, I cannot fix the issue. The option to turn off the notifications is unavailable. I have tried the followings solutions, in which all have not given me the option to turn this feature off:

  1. Settings > Sound & Haptics > Headphone Safety > *no option available*
  2. Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions *toggle on* > Reduce Loud Sounds *toggle to Don't Allow*
      • Repeat the steps in #1

After trying #2 and then repeating steps in #1, I still do not have the option to turn the headphone safety feature off. I see there are so many Apple users that are also experiencing this issue who also live in the US. Can someone please help me and the many other Apple users that are experiencing this issue?

Thanks.

Hello gatareina,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're looking for options to turn off the Headphone Safety feature. Reviewing article, Headphone notifications on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Apple Watch, under section: Turn headphone notifications on or off, it states the following:

"Due to regulations and safety standards, headphone notifications can't be turned off in certain countries or regions."

Given this, it may be that you're in a location that these notifications simply can't be disabled.

Best regards.

Hi there Melissa,

Thank you for your response. However, my two roommates who live in the same home (United States) as I do not have this issue. I have never had this issue with an iPhone, and I’ve been living in the same region/state/city my entire life. With that being said, who will be able to help me? I’ve read the same suggestions over and over on Apple support, and there is no solution. There is a large Apple community who has the same exact issue, and they also talk about it on here with no solution provided. Now, what can Apple do to fix this for all of their loyal users (who I’m sure they don’t want to lose)?

thanks.
