Using Amazon Music in iTunes Playlist

I purchased an album in Amazon Music and added the .mp3 files from the album into iTunes. I then tried to place one of its tracks in my "Heartaches by the Number" playlist, but I got the warning:

I don't want to remove the playlist from iCloud, so how can I add the track to the playlist without removing the playlist from iCloud. Thanks in advance!

There is a second column you can turn on which will say matched, uploaded, waiting, ineligible, etc. You can use File > Library > Update iCloud Music Library to try and get any waiting content to process. If there is another status we can discuss workarounds.

No luck! I keep getting:

I don't think my network connection actually keeps getting lost. I'm using a Verizon FiOS network and router (and I've tried restarting the router). I see no evidence of lost network connections in any other app on my iMac, nor do I see them on my iPad or iPhone.

I don't know what is referred to by "Genius" or "Genius results." Can you tell me what these terms mean? Thanks.

All the music tracks in question are still shown in iTunes as "Waiting."

I have an old iMac running iTunes 12.8.2.3, in which I have 22,268 songs. It's running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6. I believe this iMac is too old to update to higher versions (if any) of iTunes. It's too old to update to MacOS Catalina or higher. It's too old to run Apple Music in place of iTunes.

I'm at a loss to explain why I keep getting the message "Genius results can't be updated right now. The network connection was lost." Do you have any idea what's going on, or any idea what I could do to get around the problem? Again, thanks.

All of these songs have a dotted line cloud symbol, which supposedly means: "The song is either waiting to be uploaded, can't be matched, no longer available in the Apple Music catalog, or hasn't been released yet." The songs are very old (1930s) Western swing music by Milton Brown and the Brownies. The album (Easy Ridin' Papa) is apparently not available from Apple Music, which is why I bought it from Amazon Music. I would like to upload these tracks to the iCloud but don't know how to get that to happen. Any tips?

Now it's working! I had the thought to quit my Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel applications, which I customarily have running on my iMac. I also quit iTunes. Then I opened iTunes again, and it automatically updated my iCloud Music Library as it was starting up. All of the new tracks in question are now given the iCloud Status of "Uploaded." So it looks like running one or both of those Microsoft applications while trying to update the iCloud Music Library caused my problem. Go figure!
