Wrong Apple ID For Updates To Apps

I allowed someone to create a user profile on my iMac. Now I am seeing their Apple ID listed for all app updates even when I am logged into my user profile.


My iMac was custom built direct from Apple, there have been no previous owners. Programs like Final Cut Pro (factory loaded) are also unable to update due to the greyed out email in the Apple ID section when I click on "Update."


-Does deleting the MASReceipt and then reloading it to the app reset the Apple ID associated with the last update?


-If the MASReceipt is deleted and never reloaded will the app be able to be automatically updated?


-How can the connection to the incorrect Apple ID be broken and the correct Apple ID linked?

If the applications that need updating are Apple applications that came with the computer, try going to the App Store Purchases tab or click on your profile and then go to Purchases to see if there is an option to accept the applications with your Apple ID. If that doesn't work, you can delete the applications, except for Final Cut Pro, and download them with your Apple ID. The applications are free. You may have to sign out of the App Store, restart the computer, and sign back in to download new copies.


Get updates for preinstalled apps on Mac


A request for another Apple ID password is often caused by updates to apps/purchases that were made when using the other ID. Those purchases are tied to the other ID and can't be transferred. One option is to delete the apps/purchases made by the other ID and download them using the new ID if desired. After deleting the apps, it may be necessary to restart the device/computer before you can download the apps again. If necessary, check your purchases history to see which apps/purchases weren’t made by the current ID.

Or you can try to set up Family Sharing  between the IDs to keep access to your purchases.
