Also, I just noticed that you once had "mackeeper" installed on this mac. This is poison.

You seem to have installed lots of dubious things.

The right course of action is to do a clean install. Let me know if you need instructions for that.

In the meantime, please take a moment to read up on how to keep your mac secure.

Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here using the additional text button below the message.

There could be software conflicts causing this and the report should help us by providing workable information.

Etrecheck is a diagnostic utility by etresoft, a frequent contributor and respected member of this community.

You can get it from its website, etrecheck.com

There is a free version, and a paid version with additional features.

Let it do its report, then click Share Report and choose Copy Report.

Suggest downloading the Application Etrecheck directly from a Trusted Developer and well Respected ASC Contributor. The application is free or paid from added features. Run the application with Full Disc Access ( Security & Privacy - Full Disc Access ). It will take a Snap Shot - both the hardware and software. The Report will Not Reveal Any Personal Information. Post back the Full Report - copy and paste - using the Additional Text Icon ( 3rd Icon to last )

We can have a look at the report for possible issues and may have possible suggestions to resolve the issues.

Uninstall bItdefender.

Remove the “megaupdater” adware. I’m not sure if Etrecheck can remove it; if not, get the free version of MalwareBytes to do it.

You also have a lot of stuff accumulated over the years that should be looked at. Tuxera is for writing to NTFS drives but you need to have a fairly recent version. It’s a bit hard to go through the whole thing on my small iPhone screen. BI will take another look later.

Must agree with Learned Contributor @ Luis Sequeira 1 - a lot of old and not good stuff in the report.

The Wipe and Clean Install although seemly difficult, is not really if following the detailed instructions and put aside the required Down Time to reinstall.
