can not find pictures that where down loaded. Only recent pictures are 2010 to 2021 are shown in library

How do you find pictures that have been down loaded over the years. Only recently pictures 2015 and forward are listed in the photo library.

Hi

They should all be there if you are currently opening the same library they were downloaded to. However sometimes MacOS updates cause confusion about which library is opening. Also 2015 is about the time Photos replaced iPhoto. Is it possible your older pictures are still in an old iPhoto library (migrated or not) - or possibly a different photos library?

Try holding down the option key while starting Photos. The resulting pane should list all the libraries on your mac. Are there more than one? If so open them in turn to see if your missing photos are in them.

Hi

Possibly you have more than one photo library on your Mac, and are opening an older/different one.

If your library might be on an external volume, make sure it is connected and mounted, then:

First try opening photos while holding the option key. Is more than one library listed. If so, open them in turn to see if any contain your photos.

If not, then use the spotlight search to see if there are any other libraries (search in finder). Put photoslibrary in the searchbox.

Make sure "this mac" is selected.

If you click on the found libraries in turn, the location will be shown at the bottom of the finder window. Open each one to see if they contain your images. (Use the option key to start photos then select the library)
