downtime and app limits

my 2 kids are over-riding their screen time limit and downtime that i set up from family sharing. When I initially set it up, it was working but now they showed me that a timer comes up with a 5 min warning that the time limit is coming up with an option that says ignore and they over ride it this way. Then the downtime just doesn’t work. they keep on using their devices. this happens on both iPad and iPhone 12.

Hello!

Try setting up a screen time password so only you can change settings, and allow more time.

”Set a Screen Time passcode

You can set a passcode so that only you can change Screen Time settings and allow more time when app limits expire. Use this feature to set content and privacy limitations for your child's device.

The steps to set up a Screen Time passcode depend on whether you're using Family Sharing.

If you're using Family Sharing to manage a child account

  1. Go to Settings and tap Screen Time.
  2. Scroll down and choose your child's name under Family.
  3. Tap Turn on Screen Time, then tap Continue.
  4. Set up DowntimeApp Limits, and Content & Privacy with the limitations that you want for your child, or tap Not Now.
  5. Tap Use Screen Time Passcode, then enter a passcode when prompted. Re-enter the passcode to confirm.
  6. Enter your Apple ID and password. This can be used to reset your Screen Time passcode if you forget it. “

Hmm, maybe the last resort we can take is disabling Screen Time on all devices. On your kids devices disable screen time, and do the same on yours.

Afterwards, turn them all on again.

If that still doesn’t work. You can completely set it up from the beginning again.

Lastly, try restarting all the devices that is under screen time. Start with restarting your device, then move on to your kids devices.

I hope this works for you, and you are able to resolve the issue!
