CarPlay Dropping Disconnecting

I have had 2-2021 Genesis G 90's ( don't ask why). I have been having issues from the start with CarPlay using my iPhone 12 with latest downloads and Apple cords( tried 2) . It continuously disconnects usually after about 10 minutes of driving but sometimes immediately . Has anyone else had this issue and found any resolutions. Genesis dealer says there is no fix for it so I have CarPlay I can not use on a brand new car. Dealer is blaming it on Apple but I have a iPhone 8/X and 12 that do not work.

Greetings Jas_68,

We understand that in your vehicle you’re unable to use CarPlay when connected via USB.

Let’s isolate the situation. Does your vehicle support wireless CarPlay? If so, does that also disconnect? Have you already installed the latest iOS update to your device(s), 14.7.1?

Here are some additional steps to take, including a link to Apple Support if the issue persists - If you need help with CarPlay

Thanks.

Jas_68,

Were you able to confirm Siri is enabled? While 'Hey Siri' doesn't have to be on, Siri in general does, so that if you press and hold the side button Siri is summoned. That setting is in Settings > Siri & Search.

Also, if you haven't already, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again - Use CarPlay with your iPhone

Should the issue be persisting after that, we're going to recommend you reach out to Apple for additional assistance. Here's the link to get started - Contact Apple Support

Thanks.

Jas_68,

To be sure we're on the same page, we haven't suggested any resets of your iPhone, only that you forget the connection to your vehicle and then re-establish it. No need to reset anything at this time.

Here's the link to get in touch with Apple on the matter - Contact Apple Support Though the issue may be in the vehicle's head unit, touching base with Apple is a good idea, in case there is something else they can recommend.

Cheers.

I have the latest iOS and downloaded last night. Strangely Hyundai has a lesser priced car that is wireless but not this top of the line. I have to plug it in and have two official apple lightning cords. They are not the USB-C that came with my 12 because car also does not have USB-C plug port in car. However wife’s phone uses The USB-A port. And her X also drops connection

I have tried everything except the network reset. It should have nothing to do with the drop out. Since it does the same thing with 3 different models of iPhones ,I am believing it is in the dash unit which includes the USB port. I just had a 2021 Genesis G80 for two weeks as a loaner. My phone worked perfect EVERY time I drove the car as it also did the other 2 iPhones. My phone also works perfect on my wife’s 2021 Tucson
