i need to turn off the sent iMessage sound on my MacBook pro. it makes a sound every time i send a message and I've been trying to turn that off for hours now. unmarking the "play sound" box in notifications doesn't seem to help. any other suggestions? i need to take my mac to school soon and i need this fixed! thank you!

You're correct with unchecking "Play sound effects" for the Messages app. Just to be sure, did you follow these steps: Play sound effects in Messages on Mac
If so, and you continue to hear the sound notifications, we recommend to restart your Mac. This can help resolve unexpected behavior. To restart your Mac, please go to the menu bar and select the Apple icon > Restart. Then, test to see if you continue to hear the sound notifications when messages are sent.
