HomePod mini and Siri Commands

Hi there!

I was trying to figure out if there was a way to open apps on my iPhone/iPad using Siri while I was in the same room as the HomePod mini. Any time I ask to open an app, the HomePod takes over and says it can’t launch apps. I thought perhaps the iPhone/iPad and the HomePod would dynamically realize which device I wanted the app on and would launch it, but it doesn’t seem to do that. It will just say it can’t launch any apps. Even whispering into my iPhone still somehow triggers the HomePod (the iPhone must just send the command to the HomePod and assumes I want the HomePod to handle it).

Thanks!

You would need to summon Siri manually with the button on your iPhone or iPad and not use “hey Siri”.
