I'm running mac os big sur build 11.6 on a 2017 MB pro. For some reason, I don't get notification pop ops when I get new mail, new SMS, etc. I always double-check and 'do not disturb' is turned off. Anyone else with this issue? tnx

New message notifications
Display notifications when a message arrives in the selected mailbox.
To be displayed, the alert style must be set to Banners or Alerts for Mail in Notifications preferences. To open Notifications preferences, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Notifications.
So is this a New Issue ?? If so, exactly what has changed since the issue was presented ??
If an old issue - what other actions have been taken to resolve this. Do not what to offer that which has already been attempted.
I spoke with apple support over the phone, turns out there is a bug while using external displays. I'll try to reinstall Big Sur ver 11.6 and see maybe there are corrupt files, maybe it's a software bug issue.
Update- So I spoke with apple support, and tried to reinstall Big Sur 11.6 using the App Store. seems the issue has been resolved :)
Thanks for the reply, Phillip. I am aware of how to use the notification center, unfortunately, I don't get pop-ups anymore, even though 'do not disturb' is turned off.
The only thing I can think of is probably updating the mac software to the recent build.
I can see my notifications in the notification center, however, they do not pop up, it's like they receive quietly
Ah Sound is missing ??
In Mail Preferences >> General Tab and look for " New Message Sound " and play with the different types of Sounds offered.
Ah, the old In-Place Reinstall. That will usually replace missing or corrupted elements of the OS and put things right without pouching Applications, setting and personal files.
