Inability to open my older keynote presentations

I need to be able to open, and pick slides from, older keynote presentations.

Right now, my "modern" version of keynote just said that it is not able to open the presentations.

There must, at least, be a way to get access to an older version of keynote for this.

Today I'm editing a 14 year old Keynote file created in Keynote 08 using Mac OS Monterey 12.0 with Keynote 11.2

I have no issues opening, saving and amending slides.

There are a few things that can be done to resolve this

first way is a simple delete and reinstall of Keynote:

  • close Keynote
  • in the applications folder right click on Keynote and select Move to Bin
  • go to the Finder then Finder > Empty Bin
  • restart the Mac
  • install Keynote again from the App Store
