Why can’t I search for any and all apps on my iPad? Why make me go through each app to indicate whether or not it can be found in search? I’ve got hundreds of apps. Isn’t searching the point of searching?

You can “search” for anything on your iPad. From any Home Screen, swipe downwards from any empty area of the screen (avoiding the edges and corners) to expose the Search dialogue.
