I need to erase or reset to factory settings but the screen doesn't work

My screen is too damaged in the upper portion of the screen, so I can't activate any prompts or buttons in either the top left or top right of the screen. I need to return the device for trade in (I'm not interested in thoughts about trade in value, please don't I've already talked to the provider and made an agreement on that) and need to know if there is any other way besides ON the device itself to reset it to factory or erase all content? (I've already gotten glass wedged in my finger trying everything I can to do this on the device, it can't be done, please don't reiterate the steps to do it on the phone.)
