MacOs automatically quits unused apps (non-Apple apps only?)

I have set some apps to open when starting the Mac, like Things and OmniFocus, which I use to keep track of my todos, and to send me reminders (pills, phone calls, and so on).

I don't really use them much, mostly just scroll them to have an idea of my tasks.

Since I had my new MBP 14" I noticed a singular behavior: after a while they disappear, just like I had quitted them. The same happens with other apps I open, use for a while, then close (for example, a mind map app called MindNode). This does not happens with Apple Calendar, although I barely use it (I keep it always open), nor with Pages. Interestingly, it does not happens neither with MSTeams.

I thought this was because some apps still are active, since Teams syncs with online servers, but the same is true for Things and OmniFocus, which keep closing.

I tried to re-open apps, and in a couple of hours they're gone again.

Never happened this to me with Big Sur or previous releases, or with my previous MBP. I really wonder why this happens.

I tried to disable the old Automatic termination, which by the way never noticed working on my previous Macs, with

defaults write -g NSDisableAutomaticTermination -bool yes

This is a small, but quite annoying problem, since I don't have my reminders and sometimes I have to quickly draw down an idea in my mind map. Anyone has any ideas on what's happening?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Ok folks I found that giving via terminal this command

defaults write -g NSDisableAutomaticTermination -bool yes

then shutting down the pc resolves the problem.

Probably Automatic termination is on by default in Monterey. Anyway, giving that command then restarting your Mac should do the work.
