iPad Photos thumbnails corrupted

My thumbnails have gone completely haywire, with them looking nothing like the picture behind them. The thumbnails were from pictures in my dataset, but completely wrong. Whenever I clicked on them, and in some cases zoomed in by tapping, they them went to the correct picture, but the wrong thumbnail persisted when I then went back to the Library view.

I only sync using cable, I don't use iCloud for photos and my source photos are all on an iMac, stored under the Apple Photos for Mac app. I have iPadOS 15.3, iPad Pro 3rd Gen.

I called the Support team, who kept referring me on and on, to eventually the fifth contact, who then dropped the call. During those conversations I got the impression Apple knew it was an issue with iPadOS 15.3.

However, I did resolve this issue, and thought I would share my solution for anyone else unfortunate to suffer it.

Fairly straightforward:

1) Unclick the Sync Photos option in Finder on the iMac, then synced up, which removed all my photos from the iPad.

2) I turned my iPad completely off and then rebooted.

3) I then turned the 'Sync all Photos from the Photos app' option back on and synced up.

All sorted. (I think the case number is still open, but I do not have the time to wait for Apple to call me back, as that is the only option they give me to close down the case.) Hope this helps.
