finder keeps crashing

I have a new, as in less than a month old, mac mini. Finder keeps crashing for no apparent reason. Relaunch doesn't correct the issue. My only solution has been to completely shut down the computer and restart. This happens at least 3 to 4 times a day. It's extremely irritating especially with a brand new computer.

Mac mini, macOS 12.1

Try restarting in safe mode and see if you get to the desktop and operations are normal. If that works, then something in your user library, or startup items is probably to blame.

Working with the computer in safe mode has solved the problem of finder crashing. However I need a permanent solution. It can be that I have to just keep in it safe mode. It has been like this since I restored the time machine backup to the new computer. How do I find the problem that is causing finder to crash? Finder crashing is a major problem. This never happened on my previous mac mini

At least that tells us it is something in your user account causing the issue. Like den.thed indicated - download the app, and boot into your user account, run the app and post back the full report. If it won't run in your user account, run it in safe mode. It should tell us some of the items that may be interfering with your operations.
