thousands separator in numbers 10.1

How do you use the thousands separator on a whole column of numbers? When I select one cell, the "thousands separator" option appears on the cell menu to the right, but when I select the whole column, the "thousands separator" option disappears.

Checked this while you were coming to your conclusion. My findings were that:

When the selected cells had "multiple" data format settings, the Thousands Separator setting was not available. Likely because it could not be applied to the format set in some of the cells.

But if all selected cells had the same format, and that format could use Thousands Separators, the setting was available, and could be applied to (or removed from) all the selected cells with a single click.
