Hello Reggirt5,

You recently purchased an iPhone 13 and your text messages are showing up on your iPad and you want to know why and how to disable your iPad from getting texts.

  1. This is a feature on iPhones, iPads, iPod Touches, and Macs. It is to allow the user to text on any device and access any conversations on all your devices. It’s known as Message Forwarding I’m pretty sure. This is also a feature for calls, amd is known as Call Forwarding.
  2. Follow these steps to turn off iMessages and stop Message Forwarding on your iPad: Open Settings> Tap Messages> Tap Send and Receive> Uncheck your email address(s) and phone number(s) in Send and Receive. Go back one step and turn off iMessages if you don't want to text on your iPad ever.

I hope this solves your issue! If you get calls on your iPad and don't want those to go to it, then just ask me by replying to this message and I have the answer for ya! Have a wonderful day!
