Earbud problem with new MacBook

I just got a new MacBook Pro all set up. Now when I plug in earbuds (not Bluetooth) to watch Netflix, the earbuds aren’t working. The buds do work with CD player, just not the Apple products. Before setting up the MacBook, buds worked with iPhone and iPad

Do the headphones work with other applications on the Mac? For example, Music?


Also, let’s make sure the audio output is set up correctly. You can do that following the steps found here: Change the sound output settings on Mac - Apple Support
