is it possible to deactivate the trackpad when typing

Hi I am using a Macbook Pro 2019 model - its got a huge trackpad which I often accidentally press on my palms and it creates errors. Is it possible to deactivate it using a shortcut key please? #developer

I didn't have this problem with the older macbook 2015 pro model because it had a smaller trackpad.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.5
