My macbook pro can't find my bluetooth mouse. What do I do?

Hello! My macbook pro, which has the most recent update (Monterey, version 12.3) is not able to connect to my bluetooth mouse. I just used the mouse yesterday, and everything was working fine. Today I turned my mouse back on and usually it connects automatically. I removed the mouse from my bluetooth device list to try and reconnect it, but my macbook cannot discover the mouse.

I read online that debugging bluetooth from the menu bar could help, but I don't have that option and I believe that this function is unavailable since I have Monterey. Correct me if I'm mistaken, please!

I have updated my laptop and restarted it.

I would appreciate any help on resolving this issue!

MacBook Pro (2020 and later)

Greetings Irvine56,

Ensuring you're able to connect a Bluetooth mouse with your MacBook Pro is important and you've come to a great place for help! We're glad you had the chance to forget the Bluetooth connection, along with having restarted and updating your Mac. Those are great troubleshooting steps! To confirm, are you having issues with the Apple branded Magic Mouse? If so, you'll want to complete the steps listed below to help resolve the issue you're facing. You'll also find these steps outlined in the following article.

1: Turn the Magic mouse off and back on using the switch on the bottom.

2: Make sure Bluetooth is turned on in System Preferences > Bluetooth on your Mac.

3: Connect the Lightning cable to your Magic Mouse and Mac.

4: Check for wireless interference: Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference

If you can't connect your Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, or Magic Trackpad to your Mac

If you're having issues with a third-party Bluetooth mouse, you'll want to confirm the mouse is charged and if needed consult the owner's manual and/or the manufacturer for additional troubleshooting steps.

Have a great day!

Hello! I was actually using a Microsoft mouse. Sorry for not clarifying that before. I ended up purchasing a USB C adapter and a bluetooth mouse that required a USB connection. While this fixed my problem, I am still not quite sure whether my computer or the Microsoft the mouse was my initial issue.

Regardless, I am happy with my functioning mouse!
