My 2017 MacBook Air screen turns on but it is black, I can faintly see the Apple symbol then changes to language screen, can only by seen very faintly too.
Then it goes no further.
Try holding down the Fn key and tapping the F2 key to increase brightness.
If it does not bring the brightness up, then the backlight may have failed. You could need to setup a Genius Bar Appointment at an Apple Store or Authorized service provider so they can take a look at it. Click here-> Mac Repair - Official Apple Support

Try holding the power button until the dim image turns completely black. May have to hold it for a minute or two. Then see if it starts again.
