new iMac on OS 12.3.1 Mail program has no Trash and no Junk

I have a new iMac running OS 12.3.1 - the Mail program has lost its Trash folder, so when I delete something it just disappears and I can't go back and check when I think I deleted in error. Also there is no Junk folder. Using Spam Sieve so didn't notice the missing Junk until now.

The Trash and Junk folders are in the iCloud account, and the disappeared Trash messages are there.

I took a screen shot of how the Mail program looks but this page has refused to upload it.

The sidebar reads "Favourites", and under that "All Inboxes" "VIPs" "All Drafts" "All Sent" and "Flagged". no Trash and no Junk -- and then it says "Smart Mailboxes" and "On My Mac", and under On My Mac it has Spam, Drafts, Sent, Bin - and then my mailboxes I've put on the program.

Great on getting the screens shot. The good news is you do have a Trash and Spam folder, they are simply hidden.

Go to the left sidebar in your Mail app.
Hover your pointer over Favorites and a plus sign (+) should appear to the right of Favorites. Click the plus sign (+). If you already have mailboxes in Favorites, click the arrow to make them appear in the sidebar.

Rinse and repeat for the Junk folder.

If you are still having a problem, give AppleCare a ring and they will help out.

When taking a screen shot, save the file as a .jpeg. You can then use the icon below that (2nd from the right) that looks like a mountain range to include your screen shot.
