disk space

I cant download the latest software update because it tells me that I don't have enough disk space. Every time I try it says that I need 16.75 GB's to do the update. However I actually have 36.5 GB's of free space. Are there any suggestions on what I should do?

Additional insights can be obtained by using one or the other of the two Utilities described here to find out exactly where your storage is being consumed.

I refer to this technique as "boat-anchor analysis" -- you are looking for things that are REALLY big, because fixing one or two of those will fix everything (at least for a while).
