I'm sorry - but this response is not particularly helpful.

(BTW, I accidentally clicked "Helpful".... but cannot retract that now?)

I also have this issue, and have gone through all the suggestions offered on the internet:

  • delete the contact & try again
  • turn the phone off, remove the SIM and try again
  • change the number format, and classification of number (ie make sure it is classified as a mobile, not a home phone), then try again (& try a bunch of other classifications, just to check
  • get the person to send me a message (which works very successfully), then send a reply, but this fails too
  • check if I am on their SPAM/ignore list. I am not
  • check if they are in my Blocked contacts (they are not)
  • Turn iMessage off (& on again), try again, both times

However, I had a semi-breakthrough last week. I sent a group MMS message, and that was delivered successfully.

So, I have tried sending other group texts, and I have discovered that this ONE CONTACT will receive my texts IF I also send the message to a group that includes another Android Phone user!!

If I send a message and include only other iPhone users, then the message does not go through!!

So, until someone can provide a sensible fix, the workaround is to only send messages to this contact when also sending to another Android user as well.

Heck - I'll just have to use WhatsApp for individual messages :(

Hey normiehoov,

Yes, I have the same annoying problem.

I responded to the guy who made a suggestion for you... but should have responded to you too :)

(See in this thread for all the things I tried.)

Firstly - is your contact using an Android?

Mine was.

I'd be really interested to see if you also have the same result by sending a group message to your contact & someone else in your contact list who uses an Android.

(ie If you are in a position to test this theory with your contact & another friend)

Until apple/someone can provide a sensible fix, the workaround is to only send messages to this contact when also sending to another Android user as well.

... or just use WhatsApp for individual messages

Hi normiehoov

Hope you've resolved your problem. If not, hope this would help. I had the same problem just a few minutes ago, the difference is my SMS receiver uses an iPhone. But it shouldn't matter.

What I did was to go to Settings on your phone --- messages ---Click send & receive under iMessage---under the "start new conversations from", click your apple id---then reenter your messages on your mac, and send the same person a message. It worked for me!

There is one certain # when I try to send a text it always says message failed
