If the other user is using 250GB storage and you remove the other user and their data you will get back 250GB.
If the other user is using 250GB storage and you remove the other user and their data you will get back 250GB.
Or are you possibly referring to the "other" (now called system) storage? Please check and post back:

I wasn't sure since my kid, who was the other user, had already "deleted" all of the files on his account.

Good point. I read his post as meaning there was another user not "other/system.".
I was thinking it could be either - but then, the user files had already been deleted. So I thought I'd throw it out there.
