Account recovery where I don't have the original device

I'm locked out of my Apple ID and am unable to reset as it asks me to enter the phone number of the device I originally set it up on.

I can't do that as it was a work iPad from about 5 years ago and I cannot even remember the number. How can I get around this?

Get Support      -    Work through the screens to get a chat option. You may have to pick a slightly different problem.
