After a shutdown, is there any way to power on a MacBook Air M2 with the lid closed via Magic Keyboard or mouse ?
I have a MacBook on a stand with the lid closed connected to a Mac Studio display, Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse. Do I really need to unplug the MacBook from all its wires, lay it flat, open the lid, then reverse the procedure just to turn on the $3K computer connected to a $2k monitor? Pls tell me there is a way.
Seems to me there should be an alternate way to power on a MacBook when you have Studio display. Coming from decades of experience in consumer electronics sales experience, I fully understand the cost of adding a $1 button can turn turn out to a $100 price increase on the unit sell price. Seems to me since the Mac Studio display is powering up the MacBook via thunderbolt connection that just a touch of the Mac Studio display should power up the system. A $40 Table lamp offers such a feature, why not a $2k monitor. It certainly would be a compelling additional reason to buy a Studio display with a MacBook.
Unfortunately, if you power down the MacBook Air, the only way to start it is to open the lid. This is not anything new and has been that way with any Mac when powered down.
Alternatively, instead of powering down, you can simply put the MacBook Air to sleep, in which case a keyboard tap or mouse click will wake it up, or use lock screen, which keeps the Mac powered but would eventually put the external devices to sleep and again bring tings back with a keyboard tap or mouse click.
Personally, I use LockScreen on my home set up with my MacBook Air.
