I keep trying to search my own library on Music, and the default goes to Apple Music that it wants me to subscribe to. I do not want that. I have tons of my own music, but I can't find it on my Mac to make a playlist, because my Mac will not search My Music Library. I looked in one other thread from a year ago, but the link to Apple Support provided information that does not work on my Mac. Can anyone help me?

Yes, that search bar is precisely the problem: it only gives me Apple Music, not my library. Even after clicking on library or artists, it still gives me things to buy. And at the bottom asks me to pay monthly.
You may want to use View > Show Filter Field for searching within your library.
