Find My App freezes on Items air tag item
I have an iPhone 11 on iOS 16.2 and every time we try to do a "Play Sound" on a AirTag the app freezes. I've tried to restart phone, delete the app and reinstall. Please advise!

This works for me!
If my font size is large in the system settings, the Find My app crashes when tapping an item. If it’s medium, it doesn’t crash.
I need the larger fonts for my eyesight.
Apple, it’s a bug for sure.

I have this issue as well and found a workaround. I was using Zoomed display and set the font size to maximum. By reverting back to standard display and default font size, the app is working fine.
Yes if I reduced my ‘text size’ to one notch down from maximum, Find My with air tags works great and doesn’t freeze. As of Oct 9, 2023 this is still an issue.
Just as an update; don't know if it will help anyone else. I could not resolve the problems I noted above without doing a full erase of all apps and data and starting over with a clean device and reinstall of Apple's IOS. I was using an iPhone XS. With a full erase and reinstall (which, of course takes hours if not days if you are a heavy user, ugh) my issues did clear up. Again, for me this was purely a multiple apple apps issue which began with IOS v16.x and after several v16.x updates still did not clear. Everything else on my device continued to run fine. But the clean reinstall did work. Now I continue to add all the apps and data I had prior to the reinstall and so far so good.

Don't know if it will help Apple, but... I'm reposting this as we've definitely got issues that need investigating... and I'm now seeing the same delays on multiple Apple apps (particularly those related to location), and it is unique to Apple's own apps. For example this user is having issues with airtags. I'm having no issues with Tile. I'm having issues with Apple's own navigation app. I'm having no issue with Googlemaps. I used to use Apple's exclusively but forced to switch with ios 16.2 upgrade.
I'm pretty confident there is a software bug in the new ios release; at least that's the issues I'm having. An order / priority of execution problem. I'm having to reboot multiple times a day since going to version 16. versions 16.1 (e.g. 16.1.1 and 16.1.2) were a big issue with the typical reboot sequence struggling to work. There would be long pauses where I would have to practically sit on the buttons before I'd get a response from the op system. Going to 16.2 has now avoided the freezes trying to reboot, but I'm still having to reboot multiple times a day because when dialing out the phone is saying I'm calling, but doesn't provide the normal ring tone when going to connect, eventually starts counting as if connected; sometimes, sometimes not... still saying connecting and not counting. At that point it really is connected and the user at the other end can hear me, but I can't hear them. At other times it does connect and count quickly, but the user can't hear me nor can I hear them. They hang up on me, of course. I reboot the phone and voila, it immediately gives me the ring tone on dialing out and immediately connects. I do not know what issue has been created but others are experiencing it. I ran into a guy who just bought a brand new iPhone 14 and is having the same problem. I suspect it is certain functionality or software use that is creating the issue, as it is only sporadic with certain users. Additionally, there is a huge delay that has occurred with Apples own navigation app. I can't use it anymore. It delays and hangs. I've used it routinely and now I've had to go to Google's map navigation, which works fine. Also there is a large magnitude of delay when searching in contacts. I took programming and while I don't program, I've designed systems and have had them custom coded and have troubleshot with programmers and trained users and have managed IT. Apples doesn't have their act together on this one. I've spent hours on the phone and have gone into the Apple store and they've run diagnostics. It's definitely a code issue in the new release. Unfortunately, it's not affecting enough people they've bothered to figure it out yet. I'm posting this multiple place hoping Apple will pay attention and fix this issue. It's bad when their own navigation app is glitching out after the release (as one of several impacted delays) but their competitor product Googlemaps is working fine. On the older versions of the ios at some point I strarted experiencing a sporadic contacts search delay. I finally gave up trying to get Apple to fix that. But now the phone calls and Apples own navigation app has delays? It is unique to apples own apps on the phone. Unsure why. Having to reboot multiple times a day is killing my productivity.
