Hi guys! I installed BIG-IP Edge Client on my new MacBook Air for home telework.

This app is in my Dock, with option Open at Login disabled.

This app is not even in the list System Settings > General > Login Items.

However, this application starts automatically after logging in with my user, and only with mine.

How can I disable this thing? Is there perhaps a command via Terminal?

Thanks for any suggestion!

Stefano

If I understand this computer setup accurately ?

The User has enable Root User ?

Link below

How to enable the root user or change the root password on Mac - Apple Support (CA)

Excerpt from above link

" The user account named ”root” is a superuser with read and write privileges to more areas of the system, including files in other macOS user accounts. The root user is disabled by default, and it's not intended for routine use. Its privileges allow changes to files that are required by your Mac, and to undo those changes you might need to reinstall macOS. Always disable the root user after completing your task. "

Sometimes an app will have a setting within its own settings to load at startup and not show up in Login Items because it's starting as a daemon or agent. Check if the app has its own setting to start and/or look below to see if that app shows up there. Then you can delete the plist file associated with BIG-IP Edge Client.

Found in one of these locations:

/Library/LaunchDaemons

/Library/LaunchAgents

Oh thank you Randall, a better reply ;) /Library/LaunchAgents is empty,

I found /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.f5.edgeclientagent.uninstallhelper.plist

I guess this should be for the uninstall procedure and I have this file in both my Macs

but only on one Mac the app starts automatically.

This file belongs to root, I moved it in com.f5.edgeclientagent.uninstallhelper.plist.save

just to hide it, using sudo. Nope, after logging in as Stefano the app restarts as I feared :/

As Stefano I don't have any folder ~/Library/Launch*/

Looking at the BIG-IP Edge Client documentation it sounds like you have an older version. The latest version is 7.2.1. Since version 7.19+ they moved to using a new GUI where a menu item is used instead of a Dock icon. It has an auto-connect setting in preferences which the documentation mentions has moved. Implying that the auto-connect settings was to be found in a different location. It also uses 0Auth2.0 to SSO login.

The Edge Client is heavily customizable by your IT Administrator, they build the package for their users and have many settings preconfigured and it's doubtful you can change any of those settings.

Check with your IT administrator about getting the newer BIG-IP Edge Client for macOS. Ask about the auto-connect feature if they are unable or unwilling to upgrade the client version. i.e. they might have to license a newer F5 BIG-IP product to use the newer edge client. Some employers may desire the Edge Client to load automatically and to even auto-connect. It depends on their IT and Security policies.
