use of Apple TV

is it possible to use Apple TV to send audio to another device other than the tv and use as home theater?

Yes, it's possible. Depending on the Apple TV model you have, and the connection to the other device.


Older Apple TVs include an optical audio port that can be used with audio receivers and home theater setups that support it.


Newer Apple TVs can be connected to HDMI compatible home theaters which can then split off the audio from the HDMI signal and pipe the HDMI video signal to the TV through an output port.


What you can do, will depend on the devices involved.
