YOU LITERALLY SAVED MY LIFE. It happened the same exact thing and by calling the aplle support and not remembering the Recovery Key, erasing everything was the only option! Before continouing I looked up and found your comment. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

TallPaul. I panicked big time. I believe that wiping the keyboard … remaps the keyboard to another region, no longer QWERTY. after sweating this for 10 mins, I restart the MacBook and the keyboard remapped back to QWERTY. Problem solved without my doing anything special. More internet searches, another user suggested that the next time, I launch WORD. Keep that program open while wiping the keyboard. And then toss the file without saving. I have done this since and have kept my keyboard clean without further problems. Hope that helps.

It may be possible that a bit of debris may have lodged under one or more keys that you need to use to enter your password. I suggest that you use a bright light to see if that may be the case. If there are, you may want to consider using dry air to blow it out. Otherwise, you may need to take it to your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to have them take a look and provide you with your options.
