Can't exit Customise Toolbar in Safarj

I can customise the toolbar in the latest Safari on Ventura on my Macbook Air M2, but when I'm finished I can't exit - I know there's supposed to be a blue "Done" button at the bottom, but it doesn't show on my screen:

Any thoughts on why I can't see the Done option, or on any other way to exit that mode other than quitting Safari altogether?

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Thanks so much - I did try the esc key but that didn't do anything. I didn't think 6 extensions was a lot (you should see my chrome browser!) and I had the same extensions in Safari on my PC without a problem but I guess they may work differently on MacOS.

I'll try starting Safari in safe mode and see if that helps.

Thanks again for your help.
