iCloud account showing twice in mail.

I recently logged out of iCloud on all my devices to try to solve an issue with Continuity camera.

After logging back in all my devices that issue was solved, but my iCloud account now shows up twice on Mail on the Mac.

I now get two of every email on the Mac, and cannot delete one of the mailboxes.

On Mail on my iPhone, only one account is showing, and there is only one copy of each email.

I've tried logging out of the iCloud account, and then back in, but I still have two identical iCloud mailboxes, each with all the same emails.

The 'All Inboxes' inbox shows two copies of every iCloud email.

Someone please help as this is very annoying!

Hi Rick Baines,

To clarify, when you log back out of iCloud on your Mac, do both email accounts disappear from Mail? Or does one of them remain after signing out?

Also, in the side panel, is this second account specifically under a "On This Mac" section? This would mean those emails are being stored locally on your computer.

Also, is your Mac fully updated? This behavior may be addressed in one of the recent updates if you are not fully updated.

Let us know in a reply to this post. We'll follow up from there.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply, Rick Baines.

If you still see the two accounts, are you able to right click on the account and remove it? If not, click on Mail in the menu bar (top left) and select Accounts. Are you seeing multiple accounts here? If you are, click on them and make sure the settings are adjusted how you prefer.

Should this continue, double check to see if there are any email aliases that might be causing this. Use the steps below to turn off, turn on, or delete an alias:

You can turn an email alias on or off at any time. You can also delete email aliases that you no longer want to use. While turning off an email alias is temporary, deleting it is permanent. When an alias is turned off or deleted, email sent to that alias is returned to the sender.
1. In Mail on iCloud.com, click the Settings button at the top of the Mailboxes list, then choose Preferences.
2. Click Accounts, select an iCloud Mail alias in the list, then do any of the following:
* Turn off an alias: Select “Disable alias.”
* Turn on an alias: Deselect “Disable alias.”
* Delete an alias: Click “Delete alias,” then click Delete.
3. Click Done.

Feel free to reply with more details or the results of the steps above for additional help.

All the best.

Hi Derek.

Sorry for the late reply!

If I log out of iCloud on the Mac, both iCloud Inboxes disappear from Mail.

When I log back into iCloud, and reopen Mail, both of them are back again.

Both accounts are under the top All Inboxes area, so are not local to the Mac - see screenshots below.

My Mac is fully updated, currently running Ventura 13.4.1

Please assist further, as this is really annoying, as every email has to be deleted twice!

Hi,

Right clicking on either account doesn't give the option to remove or delete it.

In Accounts there is only one iCloud account showing.

Each one shows exactly the same emails.

I have no iCloud aliases, but checked on iCloud.com, and that didn't show any aliases either!

This issue only started after logging out of iCloud, and then back in.

Doing that again has not rectified it.

It only affects my Mac, not mu iPhone.

I currently have to delete every iCloud email twice on the Mac!

Any other ideas please?
